- South Australia Outback 4x4 Loop Meet & Greet – Streaky Bay SA Our adventure begins at the modern Streaky Bay Caravan Park, where we gather for a relaxed meet and greet. It’s a chance to get to know the crew, prep the vehicles, and get ready to hit the tracks. Day 1 – Streaky Bay to Googs Track We kick off with a scenic beach run before heading through Ceduna for last minute supples. Then it’s onto the legendary Googs Track, where the real adventure begins. We bush camp near Googs Lake tonight under a sky full of stars. Day 2 – Googs Track & Mt Finke As we continue north, the dunes get bigger and better! We visit Mount Finke, enjoy epic 4WDing, and conquer over 300 sand dunes together. Another remote bush camp tonight—pure outback magic. Day 3 – Googs Track to Stuart Highway Finishing the track, we parallel the Trans-Australian Railway, visit the ghost town of Tarcoola, have a drink at the iconic Kingoonya Pub, and explore early settler history before camping at a hidden spot off the Stuart Highway. Day 4 – Stuart Highway to Coward Springs We pass through the historic Woomera, stop to resupply in Roxby Downs, then head for Coward Springs via the Borefield Road. Here we enjoy natural hot springs, a bush shower powered by a traditional "donkey heater", and a relaxing camp night. Day 5 – Coward Springs to Farina Cruising the Oodnadatta Track, we pass iconic landmarks en route to Marree, then detour to Farina—a beautifully restored old Ghan railway town. We set up in an organised bush camp and take time to explore the local ruins and bakery. Day 6 – Farina to Gammon Ranges We visit Leigh Creek before diving into the Gammon Ranges National Park for another scenic bush camp. Along the way, we check out early pastoral ruins and take in sweeping outback views. Day 7 – Gammon Ranges to Arkaroola Taking the scenic (and more adventurous) route, we make our way to Arkaroola Village. There’s time to explore the sanctuary, including ochre walls, gold mines, remote lookouts, and rugged ridgelines before setting up camp in the Arkaroola campground. Day 8 – Arkaroola to Beltana After resupplying in Leigh Creek, we stop at the Leigh Creek lake before tracing the old Ghan line to Beltana—a unique heritage-listed town being lovingly restored. We camp right in town and enjoy a well-earned happy hour at the local pub. Day 9 – Beltana to Warraweena Conservation Park We explore old copper mines en route to Warraweena, a former station now transformed into a conservation park. With spectacular gorges, rocky riverbeds, and panoramic lookouts, this is some of the best 4WD terrain in the Flinders. Day 10 – Warraweena to Parachilna Gorge Today we follow the private Copper Track, dive into more local history, stop in at the historic town of Blinman, and finish the day at Parachilna Gorge after a quick drink at the famous Prairie Hotel. Day 11 – Parachilna Gorge to Willow Springs We travel through Brachina Gorge in the Flinders Ranges National Park, stopping at old ruins and scenic viewpoints. Our final camp is set up at Willow Springs Station, where we spend the last two nights. Day 12 – Skytrek & Celebration With camp already set, we head out to tackle the famous Skytrek 4WD track—a day packed with incredible views, historic landmarks, and Wilpena Pound panoramas.
