Begin your journey in Corryong, where the mighty Murray River first emerges from the mountains. From here, we follow the river downstream, witnessing its remarkable transformation as it winds its way through dams, locks, rural townships, and eventually merges with other major river systems.
Along the way, immerse yourself in the rich history and significance of this iconic waterway—Australia's longest river. You will experience areas of early European settlement, paddle steamers, and irrigation development, all the way to where the Murray meets the Southern Ocean at Goolwa, South Australia.
This adventure includes a mix of riverside bush camps and a few comfortable Caravan Park stays, making it ideal for those with off-road caravans, camper trailers, or those new to 4WD touring.
Your pet dog is welcome on this trip—please note that conditions apply to ensure the safety and comfort of all travelers.

Pre-Tour Meet & Greet – Riverside Bush Camp near Corryong
Our journey begins with a riverside camp on the banks of the Murray River near Corryong. The first evening is a relaxed affair spent around the campfire, getting to know fellow travelers and settling in for the adventure ahead.
Day 1 – Corryong to Wodonga Bush Camp
We begin our journey downstream, following the river to the Hume Dam, where we explore the impressive dam wall and hydroelectric power station. Continuing on through Wodonga, we travel to our bush camp by the river, enjoying peaceful surrounds under the stars.
Day 2 – Wodonga to Echuca
We head to Lake Mulwala, exploring scenic camp spots and enjoying lunch on a riverbend beach. A relaxed afternoon drive brings us to the historic river town of Echuca, where you’ll have time to explore the port precinct, shops, and local attractions. Tonight, we stay in a comfortable caravan park.
Day 3 – Locks and River Roads
Today we visit our first Murray River lock and an adjacent museum, learning about the river’s lock system and its crucial role in river navigation. A scenic drive along dirt river roads brings us to another tranquil bush camp near the river.
Day 4 – Euston Station to Murray-Darling Junction
Traveling further downstream, we visit Euston Station, a historic pastoral property established in 1848. Then we reach the legendary Murray-Darling Junction—a significant confluence of Australia's major rivers—before setting up camp riverside for the night.
Day 5 – Into South Australia
Crossing into South Australia, we visit the popular Woolshed Brewery for a refreshing stop, and explore a paddle steamer that tells stories of the river’s working past. Tonight’s bush camp offers another chance to unwind in nature.
Day 6 – Scenic Crossings to Goolwa
This day is packed with scenic moments, photo opportunities, and a classic ferry crossing of the Murray River. We finish the day at Goolwa Caravan Park, our final stop before reaching the river’s end.
Day 7 – Mouth of the Murray & Celebration
We visit the iconic Murray Mouth, where the river meets the Southern Ocean, a powerful and symbolic end to our journey. The afternoon is yours to relax, explore Goolwa, or simply reflect on the trip. We spend a second night in the Goolwa Caravan Park, enjoying a casual celebration to mark the journey’s completion.

A high clearance 4x4 vehicle, a vehicle mounted UHF radio for communication, a fire extinguisher and a compressor with tyre gauge to inflate/deflate tyres.All camping equipment including accommodation, bedding, fridge, cooking equipment, cooking stove, camp chair, etcFood and drinks for the duration of the trip.And a sense of adventure!
